Russell is the Principal Lawyer of R. Mitchell Lawyers and has over 30 years' experience working as both a Barrister and Solicitor based in Melbourne, Australia. He established R. Mitchell Lawyers in 2018 as a boutique law firm that can provide approachable and dedicated legal expertise to individuals and small to medium sized businesses.

Russell is able to provide legal advice on a wide range of matters such as commercial and civil litigation, estate disputes, bankruptcy, tenancy disputes, contractual disputes, and purchasing and sale of businesses. 

Prior to establishing R. Mitchell Lawyers, Russell has worked as a Partner, Director and Principal at firms including Marshalls+Dent+Wilmoth, Wilmoth Field Warne Lawyers and Eggleston Mitchell Lawyers. Additionally, Russell has over 10 years' experience as a Barrister at the Victorian Bar.

Some notable highlights of Russell's career has been his involvement in the introduction of the Consumer Credit Code and appointment to the Commonwealth Government Consumer Credit Panel. He is a former lecturer in Bankruptcy and has been involved in some leading cases in Bankruptcy. Russell was also involved in the introduction of the Horticultural Code and development of the Australian Wine Grape Growers Code for the Wine industry.

Mariam has worked with R. Mitchell Lawyers since 2022.

With a strong desire to assist individuals navigating legal challenges, Mariam strives to incorporate a compassionate approach in her work. She is deeply committed to understanding and empathising with the unique circumstances of each client, aiming to provide thoughtful, client-centred solutions.

Mariam has represented clients in all areas of family law, including parenting, complex property settlements, and intervention order matters. She is experienced in proceedings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, and the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria.

Mariam is passionate about helping clients navigate the family separation process. Her sensible, clear and practical legal advice helps clients achieve the best outcome in their situation. Mariam aims to resolve matters out of court if possible and is a confident and strategic lawyer when court does become necessary.

Mariam is also available to advise on other legal matters, such as Wills and Estates, and Probate. 

Mariam can speak conversational Arabic and is able to help clients speaking the language.

Gina is in her fourth year of a double degree at Monash University, studying a Bachelor of Laws and Arts. This combination allows her to develop a well-rounded understanding of the law while also exploring her diverse academic interests. Her commitment to the legal profession drives her to engage deeply with a broad range of legal disciplines.

At the firm, Gina is involved in a variety of legal tasks, from conducting legal research and assisting with document preparation to supporting clients in a range of legal matters. She is passionate about understanding the unique details of each case and excels at assisting in the preparation of practical, tailored solutions to help clients navigate complex legal challenges. 

With a particular interest in commercial law, Gina is passionate about the intricacies of business-related legal matters and dispute resolution. Her experience assisting in litigation has further deepened her enthusiasm for this field, and she looks forward to expanding her expertise. Gina enjoys the challenge of navigating complex legal frameworks to help clients achieve their business goals, and she is committed to finding innovative solutions to the legal issues that arise in the commercial world.

Outside of work and study, Gina enjoys spending time with family and friends and attending Pilates classes.

Maggie is currently undertaking a double degree at Monash University, combining a Bachelor of Law (Honours) with a Bachelor of Arts. This academic pursuit allows her to explore a variety of disciplines while developing a deep understanding of legal theory and practice. Maggie’s passion for the legal profession drives her to expand her knowledge across various fields of law. Her goal is to gain hands-on experience and apply her academic learning in real-world settings.

Maggie is eager to refine her skills in legal research, drafting, and client communication while gaining a comprehensive understanding of legal processes. She has already gained substantial hands-on experience in several key areas of law, particularly in commercial law and conveyancing. Additionally, Maggie assists in drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Probate applications. 

Maggie thrives in assisting the lawyers of the firm with litigation and commercial matters, where she is able to gain valuable insights into the intricacies of dispute resolution and commercial law. Her exposure to these diverse areas of law has solidified her passion for commercial law, and she is excited to continue building her expertise in this field. 

Beyond her academic and professional ambitions, Maggie is an active individual who values both physical activity and social connection. She enjoys spending her leisure time playing and watching tennis and cricket with her friends and family.
