Russell is the Principal Lawyer of R. Mitchell Lawyers and has over 30 years' experience working as both a Barrister and Solicitor based in Melbourne, Australia. He established R. Mitchell Lawyers in 2018 as a boutique law firm that can provide approachable and dedicated legal expertise to individuals and small to medium sized businesses.
Russell is able to provide legal advice on a wide range of matters such as commercial and civil litigation, estate disputes, bankruptcy, tenancy disputes, contractual disputes, and purchasing and sale of businesses.
Prior to establishing R. Mitchell Lawyers, Russell has worked as a Partner, Director and Principal at firms including Marshalls+Dent+Wilmoth, Wilmoth Field Warne Lawyers and Eggleston Mitchell Lawyers. Additionally, Russell has over 10 years' experience as a Barrister at the Victorian Bar.
Some notable highlights of Russell's career has been his involvement in the introduction of the Consumer Credit Code and appointment to the Commonwealth Government Consumer Credit Panel. He is a former lecturer in Bankruptcy and has been involved in some leading cases in Bankruptcy. Russell was also involved in the introduction of the Horticultural Code and development of the Australian Wine Grape Growers Code for the Wine industry.

Mariam has worked with R. Mitchell Lawyers since 2022.

Gina is in her fourth year of a double degree at Monash University, studying a Bachelor of Laws and Arts. This combination allows her to develop a well-rounded understanding of the law while also exploring her diverse academic interests. Her commitment to the legal profession drives her to engage deeply with a broad range of legal disciplines.
At the firm, Gina is involved in a variety of legal tasks, from conducting legal research and assisting with document preparation to supporting clients in a range of legal matters. She is passionate about understanding the unique details of each case and excels at assisting in the preparation of practical, tailored solutions to help clients navigate complex legal challenges.
With a particular interest in commercial law, Gina is passionate about the intricacies of business-related legal matters and dispute resolution. Her experience assisting in litigation has further deepened her enthusiasm for this field, and she looks forward to expanding her expertise. She has already gained substantial hands-on experience in several key areas of law, particularly in commercial law and conveyancing. Additionally, Maggie assists in drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Probate applications.
